Main
Building
From 12-foot vaulted ceilings, to golden
heart pine floors, late Victorian details abound. Graceful
proportions
are the hallmark of the era; and guests especially enjoy the
spaciousness of their rooms. Each has a unique decorative mantle
surrounding the old coal-burning fireplaces (no longer in use
to comply with local fire codes). Rooms are trimmed in rich
hardwood - some natural finish, others painted. Transoms and
brass ceiling fans throughout, recall a less hurried way of
life. Antique furnishings in each room have been carefully
chosen
to compliment the period details, while providing true comfort
and convenience to guests. Clawfoot tubs with gleaming brass
and porcelain trim make the Victorian style bathrooms special.
However, they are discreetly modernized to provide every convenience.
The gingerbread-trimmed front porch welcomes guests with wicker
furniture and a relaxing swing. Overlooking Auburn's oldest
neighborhood (officially designated as the Old Main & Church
Street historic district) it is the perfect place for morning
coffee or a refreshing cold drink at the end of the day. Each
guest room includes private bath, Cable TV with VCR, Clock
Radio,
Cassette
and CD Players,
Direct Line Telephone, and WiFi.
Ample off-street parking is available.

Carriage
House Building
This building, nestled in trees behind
the main house, includes the original Carriage House
which
was Professor Crenshaw's personal hide-away. It still has
the foot-wide floor planks which were laid before the
turn-of-the-century,
and retains a rustic feel. He, like today's guests, must
have appreciated the peace and quiet which this secluded
building offers; for it was here that he authored mathematics
textbooks which earned him international recognition
in
his field. Attached to the rear of this original structure
is an additional guest room facing the side yard which
is
planted with a variety of native shrubs. This new room
appeals particularly to guests who appreciate a tranquil
place to
study or unwind. Both accommodations feature private bath,
Cable TV with VCR, Clock Radio, Cassette Player, Direct
Line Telephone, and Internet
Access.
Well appointed kitchenettes make these rooms ideal as
a longer term home-away-from-home.
